Typing Learning For Kids
Advanced Typing Lessons!
The advanced lessons bring everything kids learned in the previous lessons together to fruition, and reinforce the skills and tasks that got them there in the first place. A kid at this stage can expertly navigate a keyboard and is able to do everything (or almost everything) that they need involving a keyboard on their own.
This lesson group is also great for those who need a refresher course on typing, or for those who need some basic reminders on good etiquette. Where the intermediate lessons included an explosion of new and exciting skills, the advanced lessons cement these skills into permanency by providing lessons that look a lot like what a kid will be doing when typing in real life.
Through a series of short stories encompassing everything from a clown named Bimbo to a letter to Santa, the advanced lessons reinforce the hand placement, sentence case, finger choice, and good typing accuracy goals of the past lessons, while working to show kids how they can use their new skill. By fostering creativity and storytelling, these lessons also improve writing and reading skills by giving the kid a framework of ideas and prompts from which to work.
By teaching in entire stories, the kids gain a better understanding of how the sentences and words from the previous lessons join to spin the yarn of a story. By tying each of the sentences together as part of a cohesive story, the program works to teach that all typing is a part of a bigger picture and to remind the child of the importance of the skill.
